Ravintola Rioni

We found Ravintola Rioni by its good reviews and made an online reservation using the app featured on the restaurant's website. On arrival we were greeted warmly and seated quickly, and the good service continued as our server helped us understand the menu choices (we were unfamiliar with Georgian food). We were also happy that quantities were explained to us, because portions are large. Deciding to share each plate we started with the Imeruli Khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) and found it delicious. Mushroom Khinkali (Georgian dumplings) were next, and although they are very popular and traditional, we found ours to be a bit doughy. Our best dish was the Mtsvadi, a grilled type of pork kebab, which came garnished with fresh veggies and green Adjika sauce that can tasted of peppers, garlic, and cilantro. Although the dessert items looked good, we were pretty full and decided to pass. So, all in all a very good meal. Recommended.

Review based on one visit. This Georgian restaurant tucked up on the second floor of Eerikinkatu 8, it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, but well worth the find. The food was the highlight. Portions are seriously generous and you should come hungry, because you’ll be working through some proper plates. Everything was well-seasoned (some dishes a little more), and full of flavour. Georgian cuisine can be a bit unfamiliar if you haven’t tried it before, but it’s hearty, warming, and really satisfying. Service was on the slower side but it never felt neglectful. The server was calm, polite, and actually knew the menu well, which made a real difference when we had questions about dishes. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, which fits the pace of the evening well. We’ll definitely return.

At March 11th, I could enjoy the second time Gregorian food. Again it was delicious and tasteful at a nice atmosphere. Can’t await to have again

Most exciting culinary experience in Turku. My new favorite!

I've visited twice now and the food has been excellent both times. For me dairy free is a must, and the menu is very clear on what is suitable for me, which was a positive surprise as I initially thought all dishes would be based on dairy. The dumplings are quite different to the ones in the Chinese restaurants, but something I have really enjoyed the taste of and will probably continue to take as a "starter". Chicken with vegetables (I don't recall the exact name as I'm writing this) was what I chose today, and it was probably some of the best chicken I've eaten in a very long time.

Stopped here for an evening meal and didn't have to wait, shown to the table instantly and given English menus. The staff were helpful and gave us plenty of insights on what to order as well as how much we'd need to feed us. We ended up with 3 starters and 3 mains between 4 of us. The food came really quickly and was hot and freshly made, with a superb taste. Definitely recommend.

Everything was delicious. The waiter was polite and he briefly explained how Georgians usually eats. We are vegetarian and there are few options to chose from. The only thing that I couldn’t understand is how a vegetable stew can cost 20€. We had the starters with some breads and I was really amazed about the portions and good quality of the food, so waiting for the main course I was expecting something even bigger seeing the price of 20€… but a regular bowl of stew arrived and I was a bit disappointed. At first I thought there was a mistake, so I asked twice if that was what I ordered, and yes, it was. I still give them 5 ⭐️ for everything else than the soup. At least I know what not to order the next time.
